Purpose:
To advocate and promote social studies education as an essential foundation in developing citizens for a democratic society:
To encourage superior training of teachers in social studies
through state and regional conferences

quality resources for the improvement of social studies programs and instruction;
To assist in the development and implementation for state and local policies,
