Welcome to the CCSS December 2021/January 2022 Spotlight: Civil Liberties. This issue, focused on civil liberties, also invites educators and students to further explore the connections to civil rights and human rights. Civil liberties, civil rights, and human rights are fundamental cornerstones of society and the classroom is the community in which powerful learning can build awareness and understanding. Knowledge is power, protecting and sustaining productive dialogue that leads to change and contributions locally, nationally, and globally . In the spirit of the 2022 CCSS Conference: Connect, Collaborate, and Construct, we invite you to learn with your students as they make connections, collaborate, and construct individual and collective perspectives about civil liberties, civil rights, and human rights in their world.
