CCSS SUPPORTS SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATORS ACROSS THE STATE. FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES TO MAKE YOUR PROPOSAL STAND OUT:

  • Know your expertise.  Build your presentation around your knowledge and experience.

  • Be relevant. Choose a topic that touches on current trends and issues.

  • Inspire the room. Empower your audience to be leaders in their field.

  • Make it engaging. Capture the attention of your participants and you'll have energy in your room.

  • Ditch the lecture. Show don't tell.

  • Equity.  Include discussion about access for all learners.

  • Be inclusive.  Create a presentation that represents diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences.

  • Be neutral. Make your ideas, not a brand, the lead in your presentation.

  • Align.  Be true to the CCSS mission and strands.

Offer differing perspectives and experiences with a co-presenter.Consider how your presenters add to the diversity of the ideas and experience presented in your session.

#5: COMPLETE YOUR PROPOSAL

A SUCCESSFUL PROPOSAL:

  • Indicates what participants will learn.

  • Is detailed in the objectives and purpose of the session.

  • Provides an outline covering the content and engagement.

  • Demonstrates understanding of the CCSS mission and strands.
