PROPOSAL SUBMISSION:

DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 11:59 PM PACIFIC

The California Council for the Social Studies is excited to open our call for proposals for the 66th annual conference. We are excited to host hundreds of presenters who will share their innovative ideas and instructional strategies that align with this year's theme: Teaching in the Age of Information: Media Literacy, Inquiry, and Civic Learning

The California Council for the Social Studies invites educators, scholars, community partners, museum professionals, librarians, and teacher educators to submit proposals for the 2027 CCSS Annual Conference, Teaching in the Age of Information: Media Literacy, Inquiry, and Civic Learning. As digital media, artificial intelligence, and an ever-changing information landscape transform how students learn about the world, social studies educators are uniquely positioned to cultivate critical thinkers, informed decision-makers, and engaged citizens. We seek dynamic, interactive sessions that inspire participants with innovative classroom practices, research, and resources that strengthen media literacy, inquiry, civic learning, culturally responsive teaching, and the social studies disciplines. Join us as we explore how social studies education empowers students to evaluate evidence, engage in meaningful dialogue, and participate thoughtfully in our democracy. We invite you to be part of this important conversation by sharing your expertise with educators from across California.
